About this tool

Sublimation on mugs, tapered tumblers, coasters, tiles and textile. Rolls a tapered tumbler out properly: a curved band, not a trapezium.

How it works

1
Pick what you are printing on: a mug, a bottle, a cone-shaped tumbler, a plate or a flat panel. A mug is a cylinder, so its wrap is a plain rectangle. A tapered tumbler is NOT: rolled out flat it becomes a curved band, and that is why a design made as a rectangle runs off at the top.
2
Enter the real measurements of the object. For a tapered tumbler that means the diameter at the bottom, the diameter at the top and the height along the slant, not the vertical height. The tool works out the flat development from those, so the print meets itself exactly at the seam instead of overlapping or leaving a gap.
3
Sublimation paper is pressed face down onto the object, so the print has to go on the paper MIRRORED. Get this wrong and you only find out after pressing, with the object already spoiled. The tool mirrors it for you and shows which way round it will come out.
4
Last, the press settings and the print margin. Sublimation ink only turns to gas at temperature, so time and heat belong with the material, not with the picture. And leave the seam a little room: a wrap that runs exactly edge to edge will always show a hairline where the ends meet.

The price works itself out while you design. You can change the rates yourself.
